Wanted: residents for season 26/27
De Grote Post invites artists to develop their ideas and projects during a residency in season 26/27. We provide space to experiment – literally and figuratively – and support you in shaping your artistic career.
What do we offer?
- Access to our workshops and studio spaces in Ostend between September 2026 and June 2027 for a maximum of two weeks
- Transport costs at the rate of the cheapest train ticket in Belgium / for residents from abroad, this will be discussed further
- Lunch
- Accommodation if desired
- Contact with local actors and a test audience if desired
- Opportunity to be selected for KIEM, our resident festival, where a limited number of residents can present a work-in-progress or a finished performance (theatre, performance, circus, comedy).
- An artistic community: as a resident, you become part of a network of creators. We encourage mutual knowledge sharing and support through informal meetings, feedback sessions and joint reflections.
Who is De Grote Post?
De Grote Post is a cultural centre by the sea that connects art, culture and society. Based on our vision – culture as a driver for encounters, recognition and shared imagination – we want people not only to participate in art and culture, but also to participate in their living environment as an institution. We are shifting from the democratisation of culture to cultural democracy: the belief that every citizen has the right to experience and shape culture.
Our work is reflected in a number of programme lines. These lines include:
Residents & creators
We offer space for artistic development and see residents not only as individual creators, but as an artistic community that inspires and supports each other.
Well-being & resilience
Art can offer comfort, energy and resilience. We work together with care and welfare actors to harness the healing power of culture and thus contribute to a resilient society.
Young people
We believe in the power of young people as co-creators. Through co-creative processes and a strong focus on music, we give young people a voice and an active role in cultural life.
Home of the city
De Grote Post is a place for meeting and connecting. We create space for family activities and co-creative projects that bring the people of Ostend together and help them shape their city.
Businesses & network
We build bridges between art and entrepreneurship. By bringing artists and businesses together, new networks and innovative collaborations are created.
Submit your proposal before Sunday 4 January 2026, 23:59, using one of our forms (EN, NL, FR).
The selection will be announced in mid-February 2026. Questions? Email the residency coordinator: pascal.lervant@degrotepost.be
